Eating out as a Vegan Family in a Restaurant.

by Laura on July 26, 2012

The perception is that if you are Vegan its really hard going out for food for as a single person but, going out as a Vegan family (of 6 + 1) is impossible??? Well here we are going into the high street restaurant, Yo-Sushi making it work. The trick is – research, research, research! Check it out on the internet or call before you go! The more of us going out for Vegan friendly food the more restaurants will make provisions for us! Go forth and Veganise!

This week is the first week of our summer holidays. The children have been totally full on! We decided to take them out for dinner this week to a Sushi Restaurant – Yo Sushi! Its quite an experience especially when you take the kids. Its great fun watching all the dishes going round on the belt. The kids loved it as they could help themselves when they saw what they fancied. Below is the video of our time out and pictures of some of the dishes which you can have as a vegan in a Sushi Restaurant. Enjoy!

Below are pictures of the dishes we ate while at Yo-Sushi. Delicious!

Kaiso Salad – A great flavour and fantastic crunch.

Cucumber Maki – The kids loved this. A great food to start with if you are a beginner with chop sticks.

Miso Soup – If you are already vegan you probably know about miso. Its delicious and at Yo-Sushi you can have unlimited amounts of it (as long as its the one without tofu)

Aubergine Salad – This is one of my favs. I recreated a recipe which is almost the same as this. I will post it soon! Subscribe on the right or at the bottom of this post and I’ll send it directly to your mailbox!

Kaiso – Is the sushi version of the Kaiso Salad above. It has rice underneath and nori seaweed wrapped around it.

Edamane Beans – These are lovely as long as you eat them correctly (unlike me the first time I had them). You squeeze the inside bean gently into your mouth. Unlike me, I thought they were like snap peas and put the whole pod in. After 3 minutes of chewing and still not able to swallow I realised I was doing it wrong!

Vegetable Firecracker Rice – This is one of the “made to order”dishes so if you don’t like it spicy just ask for it without the spice.

Vegetable Tempura – This is a real family favorite. Hot crispy deliciousness – what more could you want!?

Vegetable Gyoza – Crispy dumplings with a dipping sauce. Yummy!

Vegetable Yakisoba – or Vegetable Noodles. These look like they are egg noodles but they’re not, I have checked and they are completely vegan!

Hope you enjoyed this post and video.

I had stocked up and then I ate them all. Then I stocked up again and ate them. Looks like I’ll have to stock up in Sainsbury’s and try not to eat them right away.
